ISU’s Boxing classes teach amateur USA Boxing and Professional boxing. Boxing is one of the most popular sports of the Olympic Summer Games. Team ISU participates in boxing tournaments, amateur and professional. We have had winners in the Junior Olympics, and fighters who made the USA National Team.

When your child practices amateur boxing, he has a higher chance of becoming a state, regional, national, world, and Olympic champion. Boxing is also a form of self-defense. Our head coach says boxing is like a chess game, except you don‘t have much time to think about your next move.

Professional boxers practice 2-3 times per day. ISU dedicates additional hours for private training. ISU’s boxing coach, Nshan Munchyan, is a World Champion, European Champion, and Olympian. He trains with the passion of instilling his attributes into the future fighters of Team ISU.

Wrestling is a combat sport involving grappling type techniques such as clinch fighting, throws and takedowns, joint locks, pins and other grappling holds. Wrestling is one of the first sports in the Olympic games. ISU’s wrestling coach, Martin Berberyan, is an Olympian, European champion, and World medalist. He is committed to passing on his knowledge of the three different styles of wrestling: Freestyle, Folkstyle, and Greco-Roman. The ISU Wrestling Team has successfully competed in all three styles and in various competitions such as state, regional, and national levels.

In order to have proper training, it is important to have specialized wrestling mats which provide a strong grip for the feet. This in turn allows for proper maneuvers and soft landings. International Sport Union is equipped with the necessary wrestling mats and other equipment. Wrestling classes are offered year round. Classes occur 2-3 days per week; those individuals preparing for competitions practice 4-5 days per week. Join the International Sports Union Wrestling team today!

Muay Thai is referred to as the “Art of Eight Limbs” or the “Science of Eight Limbs”, because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight “points of contact”, as opposed to “two points” (fists) in boxing and “four points” (hands and feet) used in other more regulated combat sports.

Kickboxing is a group of stand-up combat sports based on kicking and punching, historically developed from karate mixed with boxing. Kickboxing is practiced for self-defense, general fitness, or as a contact sport. ISU also offers adult classes to become physically more fit and weight balanced.

Coach Tigran Martirosyan is an experienced Muay Thai / Kickboxing coach, with a 3rd degree black belt in Karate. He has had successes as an MMA fighter, as well as a quarter finalist in the boxing Olympic trials. Coach Tigran is an undefeated Muay Thai fighter and is now successfully teaching ISU’s Muay Thai classes. Classes are offered 3-5 days per week.
