Muay Thai / Kickboxing

Muay Thai is referred to as the "Art of Eight Limbs" or the "Science of Eight Limbs", because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight "points of contact", as opposed to "two points" (fists) in boxing and "four points" (hands and feet) used in other more regulated combat sports.

Kickboxing is a group of stand-up combat sports based on kicking and punching, historically developed from karate mixed with boxing. Kickboxing is practiced for self-defense, general fitness, or as a contact sport. ISU also offers adult classes to become physically more fit and weight balanced.

Coach Tigran Martirosyan is an experienced Muay Thai / Kickboxing coach, with a 3rd degree black belt in Karate. He has had successes as an MMA fighter, as well as a quarter finalist in the boxing Olympic trials. Coach Tigran is an undefeated Muay Thai fighter and is now successfully teaching ISU’s Muay Thai classes. Classes are offered 3-5 days per week.
